THE EXPRESS YOURSELF RACQUET GIVEAWAY
Tennis Express Launches Racquet Giveaway for Houston’s National Junior Tennis and Learning Program
Getting in the game has never been easier. Through its partnership with the USTA’s National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) program, the Houston Tennis Association (HTA) offers free tennis instruction to local youth throughout the greater Houston area. In support of their mission, Tennis Express is launching the Express Yourself Racquet Giveaway.
This exciting giveaway will provide local 10-and-unders with a free junior racquet (a $20 value) in exchange for their art, reading, or writing submission to the NJTL’s annual summer contest. Players 11-and-up will receive a free t-shirt and a can of balls. Through this community outreach program, Tennis Express hopes to encourage the youngest Houstonians to start playing tennis at an early age.
“Our Tennis Express team is passionate about growing the game of tennis,” said Tennis Express founder, Brad Blume. “We couldn’t think of a better way to do that than to partner with the HTA NJTL for our racquet giveaway.”
Tennis champion and humanitarian Arthur Ashe founded NJTL in 1969 “as a way to gain and hold the attention of young people in the inner cities and other poor environments so we can teach them about matters more important than tennis.”
With Ashe’s vision in mind, the HTA has an impressive 37 NJTL sites throughout the area and reaches approximately 6,000 Houston youth.
“The HTA NJTL is thrilled to be able to partner with Tennis Express to provide free tennis racquets for the children in our free tennis programming across the city,” said NJTL Chair, Bev Taylor.
The Express Yourself Racquet Giveaway is working in conjunction with the NJTL Kid’s Day Summer Tennis Festival on July 26, 2012. There the children will have a chance to display their art, reading, and writing submissions for all to see!
