Brownsville 3.5 Senior Ladies National Runner-up

Indian Wells, Calif. – The women’s team from Brownsville finished second at the USTA League 3.5 Senior National Championships held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, CA from Oct. 23 to
Oct. 25.
Brownsville lost to Richland, Wash. 3-0 in the Championship match. Earlier in the day, Brownsville defeated Little Rock, Ark. 2-1 in the semifinals. They advanced this far by winning their round-robin flight contested Friday and Saturday.
The team is captained by Rocio De La Garza and features Irma Perez, Lety Rivera, Delia Rivera, Chayo Zolezzi, Carmen Del Angel, Martha Martinez, Mirtha Herrera and Lourdes Bolado and plays at the HB Tennis Courts in Brownsville, Texas.
The top four teams in order of finish are: Pacific Northwest, Texas, Southern, New England.
This year’s USTA League 3.5 Senior National Championship has drawn the top 34 teams (17 men’s and 17 women’s) from throughout the nation.
