Winners Advance to US Open National Playoffs – Men’s and Women’s Championships
In July to Compete for Wild Card Entry into 2010 US Open Qualifying Tournament
ARLINGTON, TEX., June 26, 2010 – The USTA announced today that Alina Jidkova and Colin Hoover won the US Open National Playoffs Texas Sectional Qualifying Tournament at the Arlington Tennis Center, one of 16 Sectional Qualifying Tournaments that comprise the US Open National Playoffs.
The US Open National Playoffs expand the footprint of the US Open and provide the opportunity for all players 14 years of age and older to earn a wild card into the 2010 US Open Qualifying Tournament. Jidkova and Hoover now advance to the US Open National Playoffs – Men’s and Women’s Championships, which will be held in conjunction with Olympus US Open Series events in Atlanta and Stanford, Calif.

"I was just maybe a little more experienced today and that was the difference," said Jidkova, 33, who is currently ranked in the top-400 in the world. The former #51 player in the world has career wins over Sarena Williams, Jelena Jankovic and Daniela Huntachova.

"Coming in, looking at the draw, especially in my quarter, I saw a bunch of good players," said Hoover, 21. "I’am glad I got a tough draw, playing the best guys in the tournament. It feels good coming out and being able to pull through. I can’t wait to get to Atlanta." Hoover currently plays for Texas A&M.
A total of 16 US Open National Playoffs Sectional Qualifying Tournaments were held across the country. The men’s winners in each of the 16 tournaments will advance to the US Open National Playoffs – Men’s Championships at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Atlanta, July 22-25, during the Atlanta Tennis Championships, the first event of the 2010 Olympus US Open Series. The women’s winners will advance to the US Open National Playoffs – Women’s Championships at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium at Stanford University in Stanford, Calif., July 29-August 1, during the Bank of the West Classic, the first Olympus US Open Series women’s event.
